On Thursday, 9 October 2025, the world will pause to reflect on the gift of vision. World Sight Day, coordinated by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), has become a global call to action—reminding us that sight is not just a personal asset, but a shared responsibility.
This year, the campaign theme is once again #LoveYourEyes. At its core is a simple but powerful idea: every story counts. Whether it is a child receiving their first pair of glasses, an older adult regaining independence after cataract surgery, or a community gaining access to eye care for the first time—each narrative underscores why vision matters.
People at the Heart
The 2025 initiative highlights four central pillars:
Every Story Counts – recognising the lived experiences of people whose lives have been touched by sight loss and recovery.
The Global Challenge – encouraging leaders to undergo sight screenings to underscore policy-level accountability.
Universal Participation – inviting everyone to book their own eye test and spread the message to family, colleagues, and friends.
Visual Storytelling – through the annual photo competition, capturing what it truly means to Love Your Eyes.
By spotlighting individuals, the campaign reminds us that progress in eye health is measured not only in data, but in the lives transformed.
