There is a clear link between a child’s ability to see well and his or her ability to learn and succeed in school.
Children learn mostly with their eyes. Reading, writing, blackboard work, computers, playtime and sports are all hard work if they cannot see clearly. Many everyday tasks for children involve seeing quickly and using visual information.
An eye examination is important for children of all ages. Even kids who cannot name the letters of the alphabet are able to have their eyes tested.
Our optometrists love helping kids. We make the eye exam experience as interesting as possible. Read our Child Protection Policy.
Subsidy for eye exams and glasses
If your child is 15 years or under you may be eligible for a subsidy to cover the costs of the eye exam and glasses. Families with a Community Services Card or children with High Use Health Card qualify.
We have a lovely range of kids glasses that are covered by the subsidy. Some conditions apply.
Call us if you would like to know more about the subsidy on 06 878 8960.
